Ronald's Story
Well, it has been a long and fulfilling life and to continue further is just going to be better. I left Lewiston High School in 1979 at the end of my Junior year, not happy but well worth it. My parents and I moved to a small town called Harrison, ME where I finished high school at Oxford Hills in South Paris. This is where I met Cheryl. The big event every day was the bus ride to School, about 45 minutes one way to school each day on good ole bus 35. It was good since I had company each day, my girl Cheryl.
A few days after graduation (June 17, 1980) I left for the NAVY Boot-camp in Great Lakes, IL. What an eye opening experience it was for a kid that never left the state of Maine before. It turned out to be a great experience, my first duty station was about the hardest only because not one person could understand me because of my Maine Accent. Hmm... go figure I understood everything I said, must be their ears were broken. That changed quickly, I dropped the accent while in Florida. After, about 3 years in Jacksonville I met one of the greatest people alive, my first wife, too bad we were just a little to young to understand, the feeling we had for each other and how to control them. We eventually went our own ways to other lives but hey it was great while it lasted.
After being transferred back to where it all started, Maine, I remarried a wonderful person, Paula with two awesome kids, Jeremy and Alisha. I completed 22 years of service in February of 2002, not ready to stop here I joined the work force, what I have to wo...Expand for more
rk 40 hours now, what a vacation, and no more leaving for 6 months at a time great plus you pay me. What a treat that is. I am still with Lockheed Martin moving through the company, due to contract changes and growth opportunities.
A couple of years after I left the Navy life a new life was brought into my life. As you can see in my pictures Alexis stole a piece of my heart. She is just a sweet, smart, and very adventurous part of my life. She loves her Mimi (Paula).
A life that has been wonderful has it's ups and downs. Currently I am going through a down swing in life. I am separated and moving towards new goals in life. My focus has turned to friendships that I have made throughout my years here in Pax River. Dealing with each twist in the road and holding my head up and dragging my butt, (Old Butt) along with me.
Out of all these years there has only been one regret, that is hanging on to all the friends I have met throughout my life. When I moved from place to place I left those behind that were friends regretfully never contacted them again. From time to time I do run into some of my old Navy friends. Now I am in search of more of those friends, but not remembering their names. As we get grayer (not older) in life I would like to say "always keep your friends close to the heart where you will always be able to call them... 'a friend'."
It was great sharing this with you all please let me know if you remember me, it has been so long since i have talked to many people it would be great to contact those who are still around.
